The Role:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a lovely SEMH school in Kings Lynn. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ learning and development, providing individualized assistance both in and out of the classroom. This school is committed to providing a supportive and nurturing learning environment for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The staff work collaboratively to empower students to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
What will you be doing?
- Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons, adapting materials and activities to meet the needs of individual students.
- Provide one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to stay focused, manage their emotions, and participate actively in learning activities.
- Assist with the implementation of behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing school expectations.
- Foster positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model, and providing encouragement and praise to build their confidence and self-esteem.
- Support students with additional needs, such as personal care or mobility assistance, in line with their individual care plans and relevant policies and procedures.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of learning resources, displays, and classroom materials, contributing to a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting or with individuals with SEMH or SEN needs.
- Understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning and behaviour, with a compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond effectively to challenging situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, following instructions and contributing positively to the school community.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
